Wings of Wax: Induction (5)
INT. MINOS - CUBE FARM - ARADNEA'S DESK - DAY
Aradnea (nineteen), a security engineer, sits at her desk. A huge flat panel screen looms before her, and we can see that she's reading a magazine article. Left justified to the text is a large photograph of a young man submersed in an immersion tank, in faetal position. He wears a breathing apparatus that only covers his nose and mouth. His eyes are closed. Her coworkers mill about the office.
FEMALE COWORKER 1
INT. COLOSSEUM IMMERSION ROOM - (a week previous) DAY
Previous static photo of Theseus (eighteen) in immersion tank becomes animated. He's breathing quickly, bubbles rise from his breathing apparatus. His brow furrows and his fists clench.
INT. THE ETHER - COLOSSEUM - FIELD - (a week previous) DAY
Theseus stands in the middle of the field, clad in gladiator attire and wielding a sword and shield. The stands are completely filled, the crowd is cheering wildly.
Entering the field from an iron gated portal is Pariphetes, a giant man of inestimable age, who wields a gigantic club of iron. He looks up at the crowd, sneers, then turns his attention to Theseus. He reaches out toward Theseus, opens his hand and then grasps the air, squeezing it, as if Theseus were within his palm. The crowd boos.
INT. THE ETHER - COLOSSEUM - VIP SEATING AREA (a week previous) DAY
Vulcan, who looks a bit older and grayer than his younger human self, sits with his entourage. There is an air of satisfaction among them, as if they've placed a bet against Theseus and expect him to lose to their man.
We see Pariphetes and Vulcan make eye contact, and Vulcan nods, slightly squinting his eyes.
INT. THE ETHER - COLOSSEUM - FIELD - (a week previous) DAY
Theseus swings his sword in his hand in anticipation and grins.
Pariphetes swings his club sideways, generating a huge gust of air and dust which slams into Theseus who raises his shield to guard his face against the dust.
Pariphetes rushes forward to take advantage of Theseus's temporary blindness.
Theseus anticipates this and begins to run backwards, narrowly avoiding a lunging swing from Pariphetes. Pariphetes is temporarily off balance.
Theseus leaps upward onto the club, and then again, smashing his shield into Pariphetes' face, and launching into the air, flipping and landing behind the other man who is now holding his face.
Pariphetes roars angrily, and swings wildly while turning to face Theseus.
Theseus is caught off guard, and raises his shield to block the blow, but he is knocked off his feet and sent flying through the air. We see him twist his body, and use his shield to slow his trajectory. He reaches down, touches the ground, and begins a series of acrobatic flips: hand-feet-hand-feet, eventually ending in a skid, where he is standing upright, facing Pariphetes.
Pariphetes, who had regained his composure and was looking up to Vulcan for approval, is now enraged. He raises his club and slams it into the ground, creating an earthquake like ripple that reaches Theseus instantly and causes him to lose his footing.
Pariphetes flash steps and is now standing behind Theseus with club raised to bring down for a finishing blow.
Theseus turns his stumbling into a purposeful spinning attack, sword outstretched, which catches Pariphetes behind his left knee cap.
Pariphetes howls in pain, and brings his club down generating another earthquake like projection, but misses Theseus, who is now out of his view.
Pariphetes turns around and Theseus shoves his sword through Pariphetes' neck. All hint of animation leaves Parphetes' body. He falls limply to the ground.
The crowd goes wild. They begin to chant, "Theseus, Theseus!".
Theseus picks up Parphetes' club, hoists it onto his shoulder, and looks up at Vulcan.
INT. THE ETHER - COLOSSEUM - VIP SEATING AREA (a week previous) DAY
Vulcan rises from his seat, obviously upset. He and his entourage exit quickly, shaking their heads and fists.
INT. THE ETHER - COLOSSEUM - FIELD - (a week previous) DAY
Theseus stands in the middle of the field, the crowd is still chanting his name. Minerva (slightly older looking than in the previous scene) is walking toward him. She approaches him and gives him a kiss.
INT. THE ETHER - POSEIDON'S TEMPLE - (a week previous) DAY
Camera behind a throne. A man's arm lays across the left armrest holding a golden goblet. His arm shakes and he crushes the goblet into many pieces, wine flies everywhere.

FEMALE COWORKER 1
Oh my god, is that Theseus?
ARADNEA
Yes, this was taken last week, during his fight with Pariphetes, Vulcan's monster.
MALE COWORKER 1
I was there at the Colosseum to see it. Best fight this year. Pariphetes got his ass chopped.
FEMALE COWORKER 2
Doesn't Theseus have something going with Minerva?
ARADNEA
(Annoyed)
Alright, show time's over folks. Back to work.
Camera zooms in on photograph until it fills the screen.Alright, show time's over folks. Back to work.
